Backup Preview

Backup Preview: Test Any Backup Before You Need It

Backup Preview restores any backup into a disposable staging environment. Your team can check that the backup works without touching the live site. In short, it turns a backup from a hope into something verified.

What Backup Preview Does

Restore Any Backup Into a Preview

Pick a backup from Cloud Backups and restore it into an isolated preview environment. The preview stays separate from production. As a result, you can open the restored site, click through it, and delete it when you are done. Nothing you do in the preview reaches your live site. That makes it easy to see exactly what a restore would look like.

Full Staging Parity

Backup Preview gives you the same tools as Safe Staging. Site checks run automatically when the environment is activated. You also get visual regression results, plus push, sync and destroy actions. Therefore, your team does not need to learn a second workflow.

Debug and Access Controls

You can switch WP_DEBUG on or off for each environment. Per-app SFTP credentials also let you reach the files when you need to.

Why Hosts Use Backup Preview

Verify Before an Emergency

Find out that a backup restores cleanly before you need it, not while a customer is waiting. Backup Preview gives your team a safe place to run that check. For more on keeping good backups in the first place, see the WordPress backup handbook.

Kept Separate From Real Backups

Preview backups are tagged, so they never appear as customer backups in history or reports. Your backup history stays clean and accurate. Reports stay accurate for your customers, too.

Part of the Backup and Staging Workflow

Backup Preview sits between Cloud Backups and Safe Staging. First, store the backup. Then, prove it restores. Finally, use the same staging tools to review and act on it.
